Discover Tian Sthr, photographer and DOP

Tian Sthr is a photographer and documentary filmmaker who has been exploring the possibilities of visual storytelling for 12 years, guided by intuition and a sensitivity to imagery. With seven years of experience as a lighting designer, he enjoys playing with light and atmosphere to shape different moods. Aware of his position in society, Tian focuses on portraying people with care and authenticity. His priority is to create a space where his subjects feel at ease and safe. His empathetic approach helps even those unfamiliar with the camera feel comfortable quickly, allowing for honest and genuine moments to emerge.
How has Berlin influenced your creative work and your spiritual journey?
Growing up in a small town in Germany means that being different from the norm often leads to comments. Thereās little room for having a different haircut, wearing unique clothes, or expressing an alternative opinionāpeople will actively tell you itās āweirdā or that you donāt fit in. Berlin, on the other hand, is a melting pot, thanks to so many beautiful people from all around the world. Here, differences arenāt just toleratedātheyāre an essential part of what makes the city so vibrant. This openness has deeply influenced both my creative work and my spiritual journey, allowing me to explore perspectives I never had access to before.
If you could visually capture the soul of Berlin, what would that image look like?
Sunset on Tempelhofer Feld, we see the Silhouettes of some Fire juggling Esoteric People, framed by a punk who pukes in a bush and someone collecting bottles, while a father with a patagonia jacket argues with a woman, wearing a Palestinian Kufiya.
Whatās your top 3 favorite places in Berlin that not enough people know about?
Tempelhofer Feld: Too obvious and not at all a secret, but in my opinion, the most valuable space. Itās the biggest place where people can socialize or relax without consuming or paying money.
Stadtbad Neukƶlln Sauna: Because the Aufguss is very efficient and incredibly well done for a āStadtbadā, so well done you might chance dimensions.
SanHok Thai Imbiss: Su, the owner, is a lovely soul, and for just ā¬8.50, you still get that old Berlin feeling of having a good meal at a fair price.
