Hello beautiful soul 🌞
It’s been a while since I last wrote here ❤️ I’ve been following and honoring my own rhythm, as it’s important for me to work and do things intentionally, especially as a lot is shifting internally.
I hope you’ll enjoy reading the interview and feel inspired by the work and story of Kira Kaluma, who is featured in this edition.

Meet Kira Kaluma – a Berlin based interdisciplinary artist, herbalist, nature therapist and facilitator, exploring the intersection of sound, ritual, animist psychology, ecology and collective remembrance as catalysts for transformation for the self, each other and the living world.
Kira Kaluma is a facilitator, artist, herbalist, and founder of Earth Healing Cooperation, devoted to reconnecting people with themselves, each other, and the living world. Blending herbalism, psychology, ritual, dreamwork, sound, and creative expression, she creates immersive experiences that inspire self-discovery, embodiment, and collective regeneration. Drawing on ancestral wisdom, ecological awareness, and artistic practice, her work bridges inner transformation with meaningful action. Kira craft workshops, retreats, performances that blend various activities with introspection. She encourages people to cultivate deeper connections, live more sustainably, and contribute to positive cultural and environmental change through creativity, collaboration, and bold imagination. Determined not to merely observe the challenges of climate change and alienation, she seeks to actively effect change. Her greatest aspiration is to catalyze meaningful transformations, motivating others to dream boldly, empower each other, and contribute to both, personal and planetary healing.
You are both a therapist and a DJ. What is the deeper vision behind everything you’re doing?
At first glance, these worlds seem very different, but for me they serve the same purpose. Whether I'm guiding someone in the natural world or creating a musical journey on the dance floor, I'm inviting people to remember who they are beneath the noise of everyday life. I see music, movement, ritual, and the natural world as languages that help us reconnect—with ourselves, with each other, and with the Earth. My vision is to create spaces where healing doesn't feel clinical but collective, joyful, embodied, and deeply alive.

For someone who has never heard of nature therapy or animist psychotherapy, how would you describe it?
Nature therapy is based on the idea that we are not separate from nature—we are nature. Instead of only talking about our struggles, we begin to relate to the living world as a mirror and a teacher. A forest, a river, an animal encounter, or even a single plant can reveal something about ourselves. Animist psychotherapy adds the understanding that everything in nature carries its own wisdom and agency. It invites us into relationship rather than domination, helping us rediscover belonging in a world where many people feel disconnected.
Your own life journey—including living with Indigenous communities and facing cancer—has deeply influenced your work. How have these experiences shaped the way you accompany others today?
Living with Indigenous communities taught me that healing is never only individual—it happens in relationship: with community, with our ancestors, and with the Earth. Facing cancer challenged everything I believed about strength and control. It stripped life down to what truly matters. It also taught me to slow down, listen deeply, and trust the body's intelligence. I don't see myself as someone who heals others, I only accompany them in their darkness. The deeper we met ourselves, the deeper we can meet others. So I create the space where people can reconnect with their own wisdom and remember that healing often begins with relationship rather than fixing.
Facing cancer challenged everything I believed about strength and control. It stripped life down to what truly matters.
What were the main teachings you are now bringing with you as gifts for others through your cancer journey, losing your voice and only being able to eat through a stomach tube for a year?
Uff so many. My passion for life never stopped. I wonder how I managed between surgeries to play at two festivals, host an event and a retreat. But somehow that gave me sparks. I love to create. So I never stopped being creative. It made darkness more beautiful. If we are able to connect with our inner world we will meet the great mystery, no matter how we name it. Growing for me means accepting the dark within us, as it is in everyone. As long as we will not take that responsibility, we will go on blaming the other sex, our parents, the government, other countries, the environment, the dog. The scapegoat, the enemies too, we can project our own evil onto. On the other hand; If we idealize one archetype we are thrown into its opposite, until we learn it’s not good or evil, black or white, happy or sad. Life is not linear. It moves in cycles, so it contains everything. Our task is being able to hold the tension of the opposites. In the fullness of time we are taken into a transformative initiation of life and death. The matrix that holds the unity of all that is. I might seem as “the strong one” but that is paired with being vulnerable and intimate with my pain. I am not only strong. I want to be met in my pain, I want to be acknowledged in it. Yes I hold both. My strength and my pain. I ask you what is real strength? When to choose to fight and “be strong” as I so often heard, I couldn’t stand it anymore. When to fight and be strong and when to surrender? I found the answer in vulnerability, allowing myself to feel it all, the whole palette of darkness, it’s not only black but a hundred shades of it. In some moments I had to fight. Fight for faith, fight to keep it. Fight for my thoughts to calm. Fight to believe in my power. To get up again and not stay in that pain, that could become swamp and swallow you if you are not able to get out. Some people never get out and they get lost, they die there. Eaten up by the underworld. Better not get eaten by the underworld, only get an appetizer, take a swim in those deep waters of self, but don’t get lost in it. It’s easy to lose yourself there I know. Never forget the reason you came there. Not to die. But to grow. And so you’ll need to rise, like a seed emerging from its dark cocoon. Knowing that life as I have lived it, is over and something unknown is birthed. That's where growth lives. Being pushed over the edges, we once thought were the limits. Pushed out of comfort, that’s where expansion lives. We need to learn to be with the unknown, and live with the question. Until the answer arises in its own time. It’s never only a polarized answer. It’s always two realities included in an answer. I love the paradox. So does life. The lesson is to surrender what looks irrational to the linear mind. Giving up ego desire and willpower feels like choosing powerlessness and surrendering to soul is a leap into some unknown dark. Death is in service of life. I burned in the hottest flames, the darkest tales to be left with my purest life force, stripped away all that I was not. At some point I moved from a subjective to a more objective view of life. When we are totally consumed by life we feel ourselves involved in the tragedy. Once we move into a more objective perspective where we can both be in life and look at ourselves bring in life, we can hold the perspective of the clown. Then we see us as part of the divine comedy and we can let go of the rigid ego position whenever we wish. Some people break and get bitter during the dark, painful process of self revelation. Some transform it into gold and bring back the gifts of the journey. In endless gratitude for my friends, doctors, nurses, family and everyone supporting me.

Where do you personally go in Berlin when you need to reconnect with yourself?
You'll usually find me somewhere among the trees, dancing with the plants or just observing the little details of beauty. Grünau has become a place of refuge for me, especially near the lakes where I can walk barefoot, sit quietly underneath my willow tree. She became a great company. I often came to pray, make her offerings to give thanks or gift her my tears. There is great company out there for anyone who feels overwhelmed by human interaction sometimes. Go talk to a tree. Seriously. The nervous system loves it. I also cycle to Tempelhofer Feld to feel the openness and the wind. The natural world has become my greatest therapist, teacher and home—it never asks me to be anything other than present and curious for its symbolism and mirrors in which I can meet myself.
If people leave one of your sessions, workshops, or musical journeys with just one feeling, what do you hope it is?
Belonging. Not belonging because they fit in, but because they remember they have always belonged—to themselves, to the Earth, and to the web of life. If someone leaves feeling a little more alive, more connected, and with greater trust in themselves and the world around them, then I've done what I came to do.

You are selling herbal tinctures and creams, what are they about and how can people buy them?
Yes. Agua florida is made with cardamom, copal, cinnamon, palo santo, orange and lemon peel. It's for cleansing and protection. Artemisia tincture and cream are perfect for women to soften menstrual cramps, feel in their power and connect to their inner wisdom. It helped me a lot to stay centered during hard times. And right now I am on a dream tincture with blue lotus, camomille, rose, lavender, artemisia and calea drem herb, the rest is classified ;). I tried it myself and it really helps me to enhance my dream recall and makes my dreams more vivid. I'm taking orders from the witchy kitchen through my messages on instagram. Ready to shift your energy with some magic potions? ;)
